  • Br. Samuel Mwachofi, a Kenyan, was born and raised a Catholic.
  • He entered the Novitiate in October 2016 and made his vows in October 2017.
  • Br. Samuel completed his Philosophy and Theology in Kenya with STB degree.
  • He is assigned to the Diocese of Brooklyn, NY for Deaf Apostolate at St. Catherine of Genoa Church in Brooklyn and Brooklyn Catholic Charities
  • He is currently at Pope John 23rd Seminary in Boston in preparation for his transitional deaconate ordination for spring of 2021.

    The founding of the Dominican Missionaries for the Deaf Apostolate has been largely a labor of love for our founder, Fr. Tom Coughlin. In 1977, Fr. Coughlin was the first deaf priest to be ordained in the United States. Since then, he has worked tirelessly to create opportunities for the deaf community within the Catholic Church.
