  • Pius Oyoo, a Kenyan, was born and raised a Catholic and completed theology formation program at Apostles of Jesus Theologicum in Kenya with STB diploma in 2016.
  • He joined the Novitiate in October 2016 and made his vows in October 2017.
  • Br. Pius who spent 2 years as volunteer at St. Joseph’s School for the Deaf in Nyagoma, Kenya is currently interviewing for acceptance for the Diocese of Joliet, Illinois pastoral ministry with Brother John Maria.

    The founding of the Dominican Missionaries for the Deaf Apostolate has been largely a labor of love for our founder, Fr. Tom Coughlin. In 1977, Fr. Coughlin was the first deaf priest to be ordained in the United States. Since then, he has worked tirelessly to create opportunities for the deaf community within the Catholic Church.
